The symposium was aimed at evaluating the impact and importance of Ideological training on Defence leaders, UPDF senior officers and militants.

Additionally, it assessed institutional benefits since it’s reawakening as directed by the President and Commander in Chief of UPDF H.E General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

In his remarks, the CDF called for intensified ideological education to cement and galvanise what has been already passed on to all officers and militants of UPDF.

Gen. Muhoozi applauded the UPDF for being a patriotic, pan-African army, always ready to uphold democratic principles and one that can forge mechanisms aimed at improving peoples’ welfare especially the youths.

He noted that UPDF has evolved over time since its inception as evidenced by the level of training and professionalism exhibited in all its formations and units.

The CDF further told participants that UPDF needs voices that can address the youth challenge since there is a need for a system that is realistic, durable and able to meet organizational convictions.

“Every organization has its mission, its ethos, and therefore UPDF is no exception,” Gen Muhoozi said, urging the attendants to become UPDF disciples.

The symposium was addressed by facilitators from the academia, civic leaders and professionals in different disciplines who have always been valuable in imparting knowledge to the UPDF.

The Principle of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Professor Wasswa Balunya, commended UPDF for keeping the country stable, adding that the existing peace has enabled people to participate in activities aimed at achieving prosperity.

Various speakers addressed the need to use ideological training to improve productivity, security, freedom, national unity, mind-set change, health attitude, and youth unemployment, among others.
